This is an exciting opportunity for a Production Technician with an interest in PCB (printed circuit board) assembly and electronics to assist with the production of electromechanical device assemblies. As a Production Technician at Sonobotics, you will play a crucial role in the creation of new products for usage within the industrial inspection robotics and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) service sectors. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in engineering while working closely with likeminded colleagues to produce cutting edge products with next level functionality.
Responsibilities:
PCB and Product Assembly:
Solder components onto PCBs with precision and quality.
Assist in assembling Sonobotics products, focusing on systems such as acquisition platforms and EMATs.
2. Testing and Troubleshooting:
Perform system testing to verify performance and consistency.
Develop and refine testing workflows, ensuring efficient processes.
Diagnose and resolve electronic issues, optimising performance where possible.
Draft detailed manuals to standardise testing procedures and quality checks.
Carry out compliance testing on electronics i.e. CE marking.
3. PCB Design and Prototyping:
Collaborate with R&D to create manufacturable designs.
Assemble and test prototype PCBs, providing feedback to improve functionality.
Design basic PCB modules to evaluate new features or sensor designs.
Requirements (Essential/Desirable):
Experience in PCB assembly and component-level soldering (E).
Good understanding of electronic components and their functionality (E).
Experience in creating technical documentation for assembly and testing (E).
Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach (E).
Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team setting (E).
Knowledge of PCB design using Autodesk Eagle for layout and schematic capture (D).
Familiarity with Microsoft Office; coding skills are an advantage (D).

Location:
NDE Lab at Imperial College London (Exhibition Road) based in the heart of London, 2-minute walk from Hyde Park. Local amenities include local shops, supermarkets and large number of pubs and restaurants.
Additional Information:
Monday - Friday on site work.
9am - 5pm or 8am - 4pm (flexible).
40hrs per week (including lunch & breaks).
